New stretch target

This fully integrated, state of the art Search Planning System will cost us £250 per month to run. Based on last year's call-out record this would be in the region of £40 per call-out. To have the funds to continue into the future will provide a strong foundation for our work with vulnerable people, but each £40 we raise will mean that one incident will be brought to a successful conclusion quicker and more efficiently than currently, with less risk of infection to our volunteer members.

We're blown away by the early response to our project and the generosity of our supporters. You have enabled us to start to make our vision happen.

With your help we can now push towards our stretch target which will enable us to  invest in our operational costs which means we can continue to offer a high level, professional, search and rescue operation for the vulnerable people of West Mercia.

If we can reach our stretch target we can support the new system by helping to fund our operations across the year.

In the planning and running of a search for a missing person we currently use a number of different technologies, based on a paper system of maps and hand-written report forms, live face to face briefings and a high level of personal contact between planners and team members.

The new system is an end to end platform that will improve our efficiency and reduce the number of potentially contaminating personal contacts that are needed during a search operation. This makes our team members safer from cross-infection and the improved efficiencies of the system will make our response quicker and more accurate to locate vulnerable missing persons. Research and statistics are integrated into the system and will help us to narrow down our options when “searching for a needle in a haystack”

Currently involved in a free trial we believe this could become our system of choice for the future funded on an annual basis.

We are a successful and busy team with over 71 incidents attended with 5775 hours of incident time logged last year. We have had an extremely busy start to 2021 and expect demand for help for despondent people to greatly increase under the pressures of COVID lockdown. The new system will improve our response time; make reporting to authorities easier and free up Search Planners from basic admin tasks so they can focus on efficient deployment of resources.
