Aviva Climate Fund

Combatting the climate crisis? We’re with you.

In addition to the usual £250,000 we donate to community causes across the UK each quarter, for the last round of funding in 2021, we will be giving away an extra £150,000 to those leading the way on climate action, by matching each donation up to the value of £50 (match funding rules apply*).

Most of the world’s nations have signed up to the Paris Agreement, committing to a target of Net Zero greenhouse-gas emissions by 2050.

Our ambition is to do it by 2040. It’s part of our broader commitment to securing futures for our customers, our people and the planet.

Projects for the Aviva Climate Fund go live on 26 October 2021 and you can help make their project a reality. Those involved are looking to:

1. Help prevent or reduce the impacts of climate change

2. Help prepare people and places for the impacts of climate change, through education and recovery planning.

*Aviva Climate Fund Match Funding Criteria

Donations will be matched, pound for pound, between 26 October 2021 and 7 December 2021, or until the entire £150,000 is allocated, to projects that have applied and been accepted to the Aviva Climate Fund. For every donation made towards your project, we’ll match it up to £50. So, if your project receives a donation of £20, we’ll add another £20. If your project receives a donation of £100, you’ll receive an additional £50. Match funding will be on one-off donations only and not for recurring donations or prize draw entries. Only one donation per supporter per project will be matched.

To receive match funding, projects must apply to the Aviva Climate Fund by 5 October 2021 and be approved to be part of the Aviva Climate Fund. ‘All Or Nothing’ projects must reach their target to receive match funding. A maximum of £50,000 of match funding is available per organisation.

Involved in a community project?

Applications for the Aviva Community Fund 2021 are now closed but fear not – you can already apply for our first round of funding in 2022.

Is your idea eligible?

Don’t worry if you don’t have a climate change project. We’re investing in projects that build stronger, more resilient communities across the UK so your idea must fall within one of our two key funding areas:

• Climate Action: Promoting healthy, thriving communities by preventing, preparing for and protecting against the impacts of climate change

• Financial Wellbeing: Helping people to take control of their wellbeing by giving them the tools to be more financially resilient and independent

We believe that the charities that make the biggest impact are those that are given the opportunity to innovate and test new ideas without fear of risk.

So any projects submitted should aim to:

•  develop a new approach, product or technology; or

•  implement a new initiative or pilot a new scheme; or

•  expand existing services to a new area or beneficiary group; or

•  adapt services to meet today's needs without compromising those of future generations

Your project must also:

•  be submitted by an applicant aged 18 or older

•  be UK based and for the benefit of UK communities

•  not be for the benefit of any one individual

Your organisation must also:

•  be registered in the UK as a charity or social enterprise

•  have a bank account in its own name and have been operating for over 12 months

If you’re not eligible for funding opportunities, we still want to support your cause. Find out how else you can get involved.
