Dancefest enables anyone to experience the joy of dance, regardless of age, ability or experience. We run over 30 weekly classes across Herefordshire and Worcestershire and lead projects in schools, colleges and universities as well as in community settings. We pride ourselves on delivering work of high quality that makes a genuine difference to people's lives.

Dancefest at the Old Fire Station

Over three decades, Dancefest have provided opportunities for over 200,000 people to take part in contemporary dance, through our programme of classes, workshops, school and community projects, reaching audiences of over 150,000 people.

Thanks to a successful application to Dance Hub Birmingham’s Investment Programme, Dancefest has recently taken over the Old Fire Station in Worcester, to create a pop-up dance space for the city and beyond, until January next year, with a mix of dance classes and events for all ages.

Our Crowdfunder is to support our activities within the space, to make our work affordable or free, inclusive and accessible, so more people can take part and watch great dance, and so we can reach out to new audiences from a range of backgrounds. In addition to supporting our creative programme, your money will also be used to help fit out the space including the provision of a dance mat, and purchase equipment that we can use beyond the project.

Our work includes dance classes at Worcester Community Trust Hubs, inclusive sessions with learning disabled adults, and projects for rehabilitation in supported living, and we want to offer this work in our space, and to people who have barriers to engaging in the arts.

There will be classes for children, young people and adults of all ages - parents and wobblers, mini movers, contemporary technique, youth dance, street, inclusive classes for learning disabled and non-disabled dancers, seated and gentle dance sessions, as well as guest workshops and special events.

We’re also inviting regional artists to use the space for the creation of new work and work in development.

Making dance accessible and inclusive is at the heart of our work, and we want to make the space welcoming, creative and vibrant. Your support will help us do this, and may even allow us to extend our lease and continue our work there into spring 2024.
