"We need you to stand with us and continue resisting hate and hostility. We need you to do the work of building resilience. That is why we organise and build communities of solidarity. Action is the best antidote to despair and there is a lot of good work happening. We must tell a different story, our story of dignity, welcome, freedom and solidarity for all." Zrinka Bralo CEO, Migrants Organise
Organising and campaigning together for the change we want to see requires us to be there to support refugees, people seeking asylum and migrants navigate the hostile environment. That means responding practically through immediate hardship support and advice. It also means providing activities that bring our members together in a safe, inclusive and welcoming environment.
Your donations will only be used directly on the needs of our members. Other funding we raise from trusts and foundations cover all our staffing and operational costs.
All money we raise this winter will be used for:
- Responding quickly to emergency situations e.g. for new arrivals who require toiletries, clothing, mobile phones and short term accommodation in situations where someone finds themselves street homeless;
- Supporting our members to access welfare, financial and healthcare entitlements e.g. when refugee status has been granted and moving on support is required to connect to communities and services;
- One to one specialist mental health support e.g. so that survivors of trafficking, modern day slavery, gender based violence and other traumas can get the support they need;
- Travel expenses for members so that they can join our weekly activities that support wellbeing and community connection e.g. English classes, walking, gardening and cooking groups;
- Training for members to speak out and advocate together e.g. through our legal aid and housing organising groups.
We need your help and solidarity. Please donate and share this Crowdfunder. Every contribution makes a huge difference to the lives of our members and takes us closer to the world we want to win - one in which there is dignity and justice for all!
"Behind all the victories of the past decade, there are campaigners and organisations who have never given in to the luxury of despair or hopelessness. None of their victories have been 'small victories'. Each transforms lives" author and supporter Kamila Shamsie on the impact of Migrants Organise
