Vision
Our vision is to create a community where no young person faces homelessness alone, where they have the support, resources, and opportunities to overcome crises, regain stability, and build a brighter future. We believe in empowering young people to make positive life choices, achieve self-sufficiency, and contribute to a more inclusive and supportive society.
How We'll Use the Money
The funds we raise will be crucial in ensuring the continuation of our Drop-in Centre, which serves as a lifeline for young people facing homelessness. Specifically, the money will be used to:
Maintain and Expand Operating Hours: Keep our Drop-in Centre open and accessible, extending our hours to reach more young people in need of immediate support.
Sustain Essential Services: Continue providing vital services such as early morning breakfasts, one-on-one appointments, group sessions, and access to basic necessities like food, clothing, and hygiene products.
Support Mental Health and Counseling Services: Ensure that young people can continue to access our flexible, long-term counseling services, which are critical for addressing the mental health challenges often linked to homelessness.
Strengthen Community Engagement: Maintain our advocacy work and social involvement activities, helping young people connect with positive community experiences and build the skills needed for independent living.
Provide Comprehensive Support: Keep offering tailored one-on-one guidance and support, helping young people navigate complex issues related to housing, welfare, and more. We provide financial education through workshops on budgeting and saving, and access to financial resources. Our support includes assistance with benefits, job readiness training, and entrepreneurship guidance, ensuring stable income and financial management skills. By promoting savings, investment education, and effective debt management, we foster long-term financial stability.
By securing the future of our Drop-in Centre, your support will allow us to continue providing a safe and supportive environment where young people can find the help they need to overcome their challenges and work towards a stable, independent future.
Why It's Important
Homelessness among young people is a critical issue, with many facing complex challenges that go beyond the immediate lack of shelter. Our work is essential in providing the support, guidance, and resources necessary to prevent homelessness, resolve crises, and address the underlying issues young people face. By improving the lives of these individuals, we also contribute to a stronger, more compassionate community.
How Our Work Addresses This Need
We offer a comprehensive range of services tailored to meet the diverse needs of young people experiencing or at risk of homelessness. Our Drop-in Centre serves as a hub for immediate support, offering everything from basic needs like food and clothing to advice on housing, welfare, and mental health. Our 11-bed Supported Accommodation provides a safe space for young people to live while they work toward independence. Additionally, our in-house counseling service offers flexible, long-term mental health support that adapts to the unique needs of each individual.
By addressing both the immediate and long-term challenges faced by young people, we aim to not only prevent homelessness but also help them build a foundation for a stable and hopeful future. Your support will enable us to continue and expand this vital work, making a lasting difference in the lives of vulnerable young people.
