WHO WE ARE

Jess Carter & Bethia Stevenson-Paul, worked hard  during lock down to develop their idea to use their skills as a teacher and environmentalist team to positively impact the planet and the next generation! As a result, Planet & People CIC was incorporated in July 2021, after two years of piloting and developing content for our Planet Action Workshops. We inspire young people to use their voices and actions in a proactive and positive way to engage in more sustainable living in their schools, homes and local communities, for planet and people.

WHAT WE ARE ABOUT

Our objective is to support schools in embedding environmental education into their termly agendas. We deliver Planet Action Workshops which are encouraging, practical and cover a wide spectrum of broad environmental themes. Our ethos is about inclusive learning, being environmentally responsible, balancing education with entertainment, to be community-centred, positive and motivated. We hope to inspire children and young people to know that they can make a positive difference to their future as budding environmentalists and planet protectors.

HOW THE FUNDS WILL HELP

We are keen to raise funds to deliver Planet Action Workshops to more students across Devon and to upskill others in the South West Region through a series of 'Train the Trainer' sessions to arrange and deliver workshops to a wider audience. We would also like to develop resources online that can be delivered to a wider geographical reach.

Our Planet Action Workshops are bridging the gap in the National Curriculum and providing the tools for a resilient educational community. Schools act as beacons in the wider community and so facilitating environmental action can have a hugely positive effect on people surrounding the schools engaging in activities such as planting, habitat creation, tree planting and litter picking as well as encouraging behavioural change which has a positive impact on planetary and community health and wellbeing.  Good for the planet, good for all!

WORKSHOP THEMES

We have developed workshops on themes such as:

'Speak Up' - be a part of the climate change conversation

'Hope' - a visioning exercise to use your creativity to imagine a better future for planet and people

'This Year On Earth' - a review of the work of global environmentalists and their projects

'There's No Place Like Home' - a journey on what has happened, how it is and how it could be.

Thank you for your support!
