We have been supporting families since 2019 with essentials for them and their children. We have grown in size, supported over 7000 families and continue to grow. We run specific projects when we identify needs within the community. We are continually growing our many different communities whether they are families, professionals or businesses.
We are extremely grateful to our local council for believing in us and supporting us to aquire suitable, accessible premises within the local community. We have had great media support from local radio and television, who constantly support us with everyday services, new projects and shout outs for specific equipment when needed.
We have built a brilliant team of volunteers who devote their time to ensuring all items look the best they can before they are gifted to other families. Volunteers understand our ethos, and are very determined that the families receive the best they can from us.
We understand why our service has seen a huge increase in demand recently due to the cost of living crisis, families in situations they could never have imagined. We are receiving more referrals from families in many different demographics asking us for help.
We know we need to reach more families but unfortunately donations have slowed down and we have had to use funds to purchase essentials. We understand why donations have lessened because parents are selling their items when they have finshed with them to enable them to support their family, this, though, then results in donations being low and stretching our budgets to support families.
We can not in this day and age accept children sleeping on blankets on the floor, new babies bed sharing with over crowded beds. It is not acceptable for parents to go without food to provide formula and food for the family. But this is the reality and we need to help as many families as possible.
Every child deserves the best start in life, feeling loved, being cared for, having a safe place to sleep and full tummies is very basic, but crucial.
Many parents feel they let their families down, parents work all hours, sometimes in unhealthy relationships where they feel they could not provide for their families alone. Many struggle with their own mental health and wellbeing, they may live in constant worry and feel they can never really relax.
Every child deserves the best start in life and every parent deserves the support to give their child the best start.
