We are FEAST With Us, a food poverty alleviation charity with a mission to Feed and Empower All Sustainably Together.

Help us provide long term food poverty relief and tackle the root causes through education!

Since 2015, we have been providing a much-needed meal service for vulnerable people experiencing food poverty across London, cooking with donated surplus food in community kitchens and shelters.

We uniquely empower vulnerable individuals to cook alongside volunteers, embedding them at the heart of our community, with various opportunities to obtain life skills and develop through the charity. These community meals provide an inclusive environment where people can come together, feel safe and respected for who they are.

In 2020, FEAST With Us:

• Provided 25,000 meals to individuals in need
• Saved 11,500kg of surplus food from going to waste
• Worked with just under 800 volunteers to help support those in this difficult time.

And in 2021, we are expecting this demand to increase to around 80,000 meals!

What Next?

Alongside our essential meal service, we want to take the next step and encourage long-term food independence amongst young people. 

What project are we raising funds for?

Our newest project supports young people up to 25 years old. Many of them rely on free school meals during term time and whose families have little disposable income to provide nutritious meal choices outside of school. 

We will use funds raised to develop a weekly nutrition education programme, that will include cooking on a budget, making healthy and sustainable food choices, giving young people the tools to feed themselves and their families affordably. 

Over the 2021 Easter Holiday Break, we successfully delivered our first pilot nutrition workshops to children aged between 8-12. Outside the typical school setting and in a holiday activity programme, the children actively engaged with the content and came away with healthy eating knowledge, putting it into practice through a fresh fruit smoothie making activity.

When?

If we reach our target, we plan to develop the programme and deliver it in summer 2021. If we achieve our goal, the funds from this Crowdfunder campaign will cover equipment, development of digital resources, and support staff costs to set-up the programme.

Raised funds will also help us to undertake research to tailor our project to the needs of the young people and their families to ensure our work is a success.
