Help us save our local woodland for the community, and to help preserve a beautiful piece of Chilterns woodland with all its wildlife!
by Finings Wood Community Group in High Wycombe, England, United Kingdom
With more initial funding we can go directly into providing the easy access entrances for wheelchairs, buggies, or mobility impaired walkers. At the moment the paths are riddled with roots, very uneven, and muddy. It would also allow an imediate start on our special 'sensory woodland' area designed for mental health regeneration, meditation or for those with autism where peace, aroma or touch helps and brings some happiness.
We are a growing group of locals who love our woodland, and are willing to give up our time to manage the woodland for the benefit of our community and for wildlife.
The woodland is Finings Wood in Buckinghamshire - a beautiful part of the Chiltern Hills. It is 63 acres and has a huge range of species from bats to veteran trees, birds, mammals and fungi. Some are rare species. Our committee is already experienced in woodland and conservation work elsewhere. If we can purchase this lovely site then it will be saved from the chainsaw, wood-lotting or development. Our community can treasure it forever - plus it is our 'bit' to help the environment and climate change as it will be managed well.
Nature needs us all; and we all need nature. And we need your help to raise £15,000 to support us in saving our local woodland. This money will go towards the shortfall we still have for the purchase and first planning with safety work. Any extra funds can be used to help us make the woodland entrances accessible to all. After 1 year we will be self-financing to maintain the woodland for nature and the community.
This project offers rewards in return for your donation.
