What we are looking for
There are lots of different roles and ways to be involved, but generally to be a First Light Volunteer you need the following skills and attributes:
• A positive and enthusiastic attitude
• Availability Saturday 21 and/or Sunday 22 June 2025
• Commitment to and flexibility with shifts and tasks - these will be confirmed before the event
• To be responsible, adaptable, reliable, and punctual
• Be comfortable engaging with members of the public
• To work well as part of a team
• Willingness to develop existing skills and and learn new ones
• Willingness to work outdoors in all weathers
• To be an advocate for First Light Festival and for Lowestoft.
What difference this will make
Volunteers are an integral part of our team. In 2024, our brilliant team of committed and enthusiastic volunteers undertook a staggering 500 hours of work over just a few days! Our future plans are ambitious and exciting and we need your help to deliver what promises to be another amazing event in 2025.
What to bring
Clothing will be very much weather and time of shift dependent but please remember that most shifts will be on the beach - above all else comfort!
Snacks and water will be available however you may want to bring along food and drinks to keep you sustained.
Getting there
Parking will be very limited around Lowestoft during the festival so please consider how you travel to the site. There are many public transport options and I can discuss your individual needs when we are in contact.
Facilities
Each volunteer will be given a t-shirt and will have access to refreshments backstage.
Accessibility
We’re working hard to make sure that the Festival is as accessible as possible.
Whilst our unique seafront setting is very beautiful, and we want to festival to be something everyone can experience and enjoy, the natural environment and Victorian infrastructure may mean it is not easy to navigate for everyone.
Please refer to our access page on the website for further details.
