Our Winter Appeal is dedicated to supporting children and the elderly, to collect and redistribute essential items to those in need.

by Goods for Good in Watford, England, United Kingdom

At Goods For Good, we believe everyone deserves warmth, comfort, and dignity, especially during the harsh winter months.  For the past 10 years, we've been dedicated to alleviating poverty and supporting vulnerable communities by providing essential goods and resources to those in need. This winter, we're turning our attention to the elderly and children who are particularly susceptible to the cold.

Our Team

We're a passionate group of individuals driven by a shared belief in the power of collective action. Our team comprises dedicated volunteers, experienced logistics experts, and compassionate individuals with a deep understanding of the challenges faced by vulnerable communities. We work tirelessly to ensure that essential goods reach those who need them most.

Our Idea:  A Winter Warmer Campaign

Our communities face unprecedented challenges, and we want to invite people and business to join our Winter Warmer campaign and help us make a tangible difference in the lives of those who need it most. Every donation, big or small, will contribute to providing warmth, comfort, and dignity this winter. This collaboration will help to ensure that no one is left out in the cold.

This winter, the crowdfunding campaign we are launching on Aviva will distribute essential winter items to elderly individuals and children in need.  Many elderly people, often living in isolation, struggle to afford adequate heating and warm clothing, leaving them vulnerable to hypothermia and other cold-related illnesses.

Reduced winter fuel payments for the elderly and increasing child poverty has resulted in countless families grappling with heart-breaking choices: Should they pay for heating or buy food? Many parents may find themselves in temporary housing, struggling to provide even the basics for their children, while elderly individuals may be left without adequate warmth or support. Similarly, many children lack proper winter gear, impacting their health, well-being, and ability to participate in school and outdoor activities.

Our Vision

We envision a winter where every elderly person and child is warm, safe, and protected from the elements. We want to ensure that no one suffers needlessly from the cold.

How We'll Use the Funds

The funds raised through our Aviva campaign will be used to:

  • Sourcing Essential Winter Items:  We'll access warm coats, hats, scarves, gloves, and thermal clothing for both the elderly and children from the community. Our corporate partners will provide us with their surplus stock such as Uniqlo's Heattech products
  • Source and Distribute Footwear:  We'll provide sturdy and weather-appropriate footwear to protect against the cold and wet conditions.
  • Partner with Local Organisations: We'll collaborate with community centres, shelters, and schools to identify those most in need and ensure efficient distribution of goods.
  • Raise Awareness:  We'll use this campaign to raise awareness about the challenges faced by vulnerable individuals during the winter months and inspire others to take action.

This year, our Give A Gift For Good campaign aims to transform the spirit of giving into a powerful source of support for vulnerable children and the elderly. By uniting the efforts of our community and corporate partners, through donations of funds and essential goods , we can bring hope and essential assistance to those who need it most during this critical time.
