We are raising money for volunteer recruitment and training to help more local people with our free, confidential and high quality advice.
by Citizens Advice East Herts in England, United Kingdom
Sarah, Siobhain, Andy, Rachael and Hugh are running the London Landmarks Half Marathon in April 2025 to raise money towards the cost of recruiting and training volunteers at Citizens Advice East Herts.
Citizens Advice East Herts is a local, independent charity that provides a vital service for the community.
Every year Citizens Advice East Herts provides thousands of local people with free, impartial and reliable advice that helps them tackle challenges they face with housing, employment, debt, finance, consumer, family and so much more. We are the vital safety net for anyone who needs advice - many people turn to us before any other advice and information source because they trust us.
Whether it's dealing with the loss of a loved one, knowing your rights when you have been made redundant, finding out what benefits you are entitled to and how to apply for them or settling a dispute with your landlord, we are here when you most need us.
Last year we helped nearly 6,000 people and, in the process, saved them £2.8 million by enabling them to manage debt problems effectively, claiming benefits to which they were eligible, and by providing vital housing and consumer rights advice.
VOLUNTEER TRAINING
Much of our service is provided by highly trained volunteer advisers who live in the community and want to ‘give back' to make East Herts strong, resilient and a happy place for everyone to live.
But it costs us over £1200 to train each new volunteer and a further £300 a year for ongoing training support. We aim to train 15 new volunteers every year.
We are running to raise money towards these essential training costs. This essential work brings a number of benefits to our local volunteers and the community they serve. It ensures the advice we give is of the highest standard and meets the needs of the people who come to us. Please watch our volunteer Mark talk about the work we do and the difference his training has made below.
Please give so we can continue to train volunteers to support local people in their time of need.
