Raising money for Parkinson's UK; a disease my mum has been suffering from now for 12 years,

We are excited to announce that in June 2025, our Aviva Claims Supply Chain team will be taking on the Peak District Ultra Challenge to raise funds for Parkinson's UK. This incredible journey will see us navigating the stunning yet demanding terrain of the Peak District, all in support of an amazing Charity. This year we are a Team of 25 people.

Our Challenge

The Peak District Ultra Challenge is no small feat. It will test our endurance, strength, teamwork and determination as we cover a significant distance across one of the UK's most beautiful national parks. I have chosen to complete the full continuous 100km, which features a tough and varied figure-of-eight course through Derbyshire’s finest scenery, with a total climb of 2,150m. While this will be challenging I have chosen to make it tougher by accepting the Ultra March® option whereby I will seek to walk (no jogging or running allowed) in sub-24-hours.

Parkinson's UK

Parkinson's is a progressive neurological condition. In the UK, around 153,000 people are currently living with Parkinson's disease. This number is expected to increase to approximately 172,000 by 2030 due to population growth and ageing. Every hour, two more people are diagnosed with Parkinson's. It can have a profound impact on the lives of those diagnosed, as well as their families and friends. Parkinson's UK is dedicated to improving the quality of life for those affected by the condition through research, support, and advocacy. This cause is particularly poignant to the team with our Team captain, Nick Mayhew having recently lost a close family member and my mum who continues to fight her personal battle with the disease every day.
