Be the change that transforms lives. Help us empower care leavers to overcome financial barriers and achieve their dreams.

Additional funding will help us support more Care Leavers in a crises, improving their financial situation, with employment, training, housing, access to benefits and warm spaces at Rees Cafes nationwide. We will also improve access to our Lets Connect networks and workshops and Ask Jan membership.
When you’ve spent your childhood moving from one foster home to another or living in residential care, stepping into adulthood can feel like stepping off a cliff with no safety net. Without the support of a loving family, many Care Experienced People face the world alone, struggling with the trauma and instability of their past.
This is where Rees Foundation comes in. We’re here to make sure Care Leavers don’t have to face these challenges alone. We provide the kind of support and friendship that everyone deserves, whether it’s helping them find a job, secure safe housing, or just offering a listening ear when things get tough. We partner with local Rees Cafes, where people can meet others who understand their experiences, and host virtual sessions like "Let’s Connect" for those needing a friendly face from afar. Last year, Rees responded to over 2,000 Care Leavers—proving just how vital our work is.
But Rees is more than just a charity; we’re a community, a tribe, a second family. For many Care Experienced People, Rees is the family they never had—a constant source of support, love, and understanding that helps them get through life’s toughest moments.
Why Your Support Matters:
The statistics are heartbreaking: nearly 25% of the prison population and over 26% of the homeless population in England have spent time in care. On top of that, 41% of care leavers aged 19-21 are not in education, employment, or training, compared to just 12% of their peers. These figures highlight the immense challenges Care Experienced People face and how vital Rees’s support is in breaking the cycle of disadvantage.
With the soaring cost of living, Care Experienced People are being hit the hardest. They’re often forced to choose between eating and heating, sometimes ending up at food banks or shelters just to survive. But with your support, we can make sure they have what they need to get by—and thrive.
Thanks to your generosity, last year we were able to:
What truly highlights the impact of Rees Foundation are the heartfelt stories from those they've helped. One care leaver shared, “My project worker has been a lifesaver. From the very beginning, she took the time to listen to me, made me feel heard, and supported me through all the tough times.” Another described how having a safe home and the guidance of an outreach worker completely changed their life—no more substance abuse, no more run-ins with the law.
These stories show that Rees isn’t just helping people; they’re transforming lives, one person at a time.
How You Can Help:
By donating to Rees Foundation, you’re not just giving money—you’re giving hope. Thanks to Aviva, every £1 donated is being doubled. (up to £250 per donation) Your support helps Care Leavers find a safe place to call home, the skills to manage their finances, and the confidence to chase their dreams. It provides emergency crisis support when times are tough and gives them a sense of belonging in a world that often feels lonely.
Together, we can make sure Care Experienced People have the chance to build the lives they deserve. Be the change that transforms lives.
Thank you for believing in our mission and helping us create a brighter future for Care Leavers.
This project offers rewards in return for your donation.
