Community is at the heart of everything we do and why we exist.
Established in 2020, Heatons Post Community Newspaper was launched in response to a need by community and voluntary groups in the Heatons and Reddish, to have a more effective means of communicating with residents and to generate greater engagement.
Following the successful launch of Heatons Post, the impact was immediately evident, with community groups, charities and residents all reporting benefits from having access to a printed positive news publication for their community.
We realised that every community would benefit from having it’s own hyperlocal newspaper, and that community and voluntary organisations working in those areas would be supported as they are in the Heatons and Reddish. We now produce 11 hyperlocal Post Community Newspapers covering different communities across Greater Manchester, and in January 2024 we combined our 6 Stockport publications into one mega Borough paper, Stockport Post, and our 5 South Manchester publications became Manchester South Post - sharing hyperlocal community-focussed news Borough-wide.
In addition to the Post Community Newspapers our organisation is committed to running a series of events and projects each year including 'In Bloom' - a project which brings colour and a visual impact back to our local shopping areas throughout the summer by encouraging shops to install planters/window baskets/wall baskets/hanging baskets to the front of their premises.
Already successful in Reddish and the Heatons we want to bring In Bloom to every community we support, beginning with Gatley, Hazel Grove and Edgeley.
It costs £150 for one planter, compost and plants for In Bloom and we have set ourselves a target of raising £2,250.00 so we can install five planters in each area we have identified.
Please help sprinkle some colour into your community and pledge your support today.
