Before the pandemic we gave out 10-20 food parcels per week. Within 3 months of lockdown we were giving out 150-200 parcels per week and now have over 500 families on the foodbank database. We have given additional support in school holidays, including Christmas and summer, recognising that families need social support as well as food. We also support families to access the income they are entitled to and have recovered over £6,000 for people whose benefits had been disrupted. We also help with debt, housing and other legal matters, helping to ease the stress of poverty. We have also provided phone support, hot meals, prescription collection and lifts to medical appointments. Over time more than 50 volunteers have been involved and we have received grants to help with supplies and admin support.
However, volunteer numbers are reducing as people return to the office and the grants are running out. We are therefore fundraising to keep:
1) Our administrator in post and cover admin costs
2) The foodbank supplied when there are donation gaps from individuals and Fareshare
3) Publicity going for the foodbank, for donations and for volunteers
