Monument Performing Arts School

RCN SC041759, Stirling

Providing quality pre-vocational performing arts training and exciting performing experiences. We also produce professional concerts which involve our former students, helping them to showcase their talents and develop their careers. Since Covid struck, some of our graduates have struggled to secure employment so we would love to kick-start their careers by employing them in some professional plays or shows.

We are seeking funding to allow us to create freelance work for our graduates & other performers, who previously enjoyed success in the Theatre and TV industries, in a variety of roles across the UK and Europe. However due to Covid these talented professionals find themselves out of work with contracts cancelled and very few audition opportunities. We believe the mental health of our young (and not so young) freelancers is seriously at risk. As the Federation of Scottish Theatres recognises “the hardest hit, yet the most poorly and inconsistently supported, many highly skilled and experienced freelancers have not, since the beginning of the pandemic, worked in their chosen roles, or have been forced to leave the industry altogether”.

Here are a few of our music clips

In return for your donation you will be invited to watch the final rehearsal and performances and will be kept up to date with all future productions. If you would like to hear more of our fabulous score we will be happy to share our videos of rehearsals. If it's a larger donation, we have a range of rewards including an original cast recording of the songs.

Rewards - for £50 donation = 2 tickets for the performance - more rewards coming soon - check back later

The aim of our project is to form a professional company to develop the brand new stage musical 'Don’t Let Go!', a hard-hitting show exploring youth culture, drug abuse, homelessness and disability. Although it revolves around a love story between the two lead characters, the writers have addressed the issues and social pressures faced by young people. Set in a small town/village in Scotland, at a time before Covid, it follows the lives of six young people from the financial crash in 2008 to the modern day Brexit preparations, when unemployment is rising. Since 2008, MPAs has provided training for those wishing to gain qualifications in performing arts. Our Charity remit allows us to produce professional shows and we enjoy providing paid performance opportunities for our graduates. By developing this musical to the point where it is “performance ready” we hope to seek out producers or theatre directors who may be interested in collaborating with us to take this project to festivals such as Edinburgh Fringe or to Scottish Theatres.  Our previous professional shows 2014 – 2019 have been concert style events, written, directed and produced by Craig Murray (the writer of 'Don't Let Go!') and the MPAs team.

It is essential that MPAs does everything possible to ensure that there is a future for those who have dedicated their lives to the arts. If there are too few employment opportunities, there is little point in providing training which means there is no future for MPAs.

Mouse House approached MPAs seeking singers to record some tracks, the songs inspired discussions which led to an idea for a stage musical. The first read through was a year later, with a group of professional actors, who were excited to create the characters and enthusiastically shared ideas about how and where the musical could be staged. A 2 day workshop some months later saw a more polished script and songs being rehearsed and more ideas being shared. We are confident that we have a quality product and are aware that our biggest criticism is that the cast is too large to make it profitable. The writers acknowledge this and have suggested that, as happens in so many of the large west end shows, the cast could 'double' making the final cast a more financially viable proposition.

Don't Let go - update

Hello everyone

Thank you to you all for being so generous - sadly we didn't raise our target for the Dont Let Go Musical Project. So we didn't collect your donations.

However - we are continuing to fundraise for this and some smaller projects.

Please let me know whether you wish to claim back any donations or if you're happy to leave your pledge/donation with us for our projects.

We do have some exciting projects planned for 2023 - so we'll hopefully see you all at one of our events.

We have Christmas concert on Sunday 18th December - here at MDC studios - you are welcome to join us for some Christmas cheer.

Have a wonderful Christmas

Louise & all at MPAS
