Making Waste Things Playthings: Children’s Scrapstore are a re-use charity dedicated to helping businesses divert safe clean reusable waste away from landfill and use it for creative and imaginative art and play opportunities for children, young people and adults.
With our store based in Bristol we offer:

- The ArtShop - We offer a large range and variety of arts and crafts materials through our shop. All products are competitively priced, and the profits go straight back into Children’s Scrapstore. We also hire out badge makers.
- The Playroom and Events - We run messy play for Under 5’s every week and have sessions for older children in school holidays. Our Adult Art Club offers a chance to experience a range of arts and crafts. We also run a free monthly Super Saturdays drop in art event.
- Play Services - We offer a range of training programmes including our renowned Scrapstore PlayPods and consultancy to schools, early years settings, other play settings and any organisation that would like to be more playful. We run community Play Rangers sessions in targeted areas.
Through our membership scheme we have supported 378,269 people over the last year. In addition to this we have 153 Bristol school members reaching out to 63,575 pupils and 31 schools involved in Scrapstore Playpods supporting 12,211 children across Bristol City.
The project for which we require funding
We are seeking funding to pay for a Powered Pallet Stacker Truck for our large warehouse which is full of varied, colourful and abundant scrap materials. The Stacker will enable palleted scrap to be moved safely and efficiently around the warehouse and allows us to use the height in the warehouse for storage allowing us to save more resources from landfill.
All of the scrap is safe surplus stock collected directly from local businesses and industry. Children’s Scrapstore and our members use these materials to offer creative and play opportunities across the city, in turn bringing creative opportunities to disadvantaged communities and youth led schemes across the city.
