To facilitate our abuse & trauma programs in a safe space for women and girls in the south side of Glasgow. Support and advocacy included.
by No Feart CIC in Glasgow, Scotland, United Kingdom
The larger amount will allow us to run 2 courses within the year for women in the Southside of Glasgow.
We are looking for permanent premises eventually so that we can offer our work to the community of Glasgow from a centre of excellence offering long term sustained change from abuse & trauma recovery to men, women and teens.
No Feart facilitate abuse and trauma programs to the community with group work for men, women and teens.
From 2015 - 2022 No Feart worked extensively in the domestic abuse field with women and men whether victim or perpetrator in physical and virtual groups.
In 2022 Founder - Lynn Harris began writing her own programs which are non gendered specific and work for all affected by abuse & trauma in many other settings we find abuse in life.
The new programs are called: 1 Aware - 10 sessions
2 Recover - 12 sessions
No Feart facilitates both programs to community partnerships where their clients receive an education on all abuse behaviours;
Program 1 - physical, psychological/emotional, coercive control, sexual abuse and financial/material abuse.
The various places we find abuse; organisations, institutions, domestic (including familial) Human Trafficking, discrimination and child abuse.
Program 2 - Recover - We look at; 1- Exploring personal power in our lives. 2- Looking at new ways of thinking. 3- Practicing self care. 4- Lets glance back, identify feelings and get to know ourselves. 5- Share with a trusted other who understands our trauma. 6- Are we ready for change? 7- If so, let's begin letting the old ways go to make way for the new. 8- As we are beginning to know ourselves, is there anyone we have harmed including ourselves?
9- We safely ‘let go’ or make amends to others or ourselves. 10- Continue our new design for living. 11- Keep connected to the source of help. 12- Help others find a new path of recovery.
We have been piloting both programs for the last two years with over 600 participants in and around Glasgow and the rest of the UK via online. The results have been signifiant as we see sustainable change in the lives of individuals and their families. Changes such as;
Improved mental health and suicide ideation. New goals and plans for future with families reconciling. Children coming out of care system, better parenting skills, financial stability with budgeting and financial planning - leading to debt management, not returning to prison, understanding and seeking help for past and present trauma. Returning to work, gaining employment or studying at college/university. Entering into healthy relationships, attending further support and much more.
