To restore a healthy relationship between humanity and the Ocean through education, science and storytelling.

Project by Ocean Generation

We're still collecting donations

On the 13th January 2025 we'd raised £6,907 with 42 supporters in 0 days. But as every pound matters, we're continuing to collect donations from supporters.

 New stretch target

The additional funds will allow Ocean Generation to deliver four more youth engagement workshops. These workshops educate young people about the importance of the Ocean and how we must protect it. We provide tangible actions that can be carried by anyone and help guide those facing eco anxiety.

Without your support, we simply couldn't deliver our youth programmes and be the voice for our Ocean.

Thank you!

Who we are

Ocean Generation is an Ocean conservation charity, empowering people around the world to make a positive difference to our Ocean.

We aim to Introduce / Educate / Empower 50 million people in Ocean education and action by 2030.

We'll do this by translating complex Ocean science into engaging content, programmes and practical actions. This – our Ocean Intelligence approach – is endorsed by UNESCO and integrated into all of our work.

Empower people through:

Science and research – turning Ocean Science into understandable and practical tools that people everywhere can use in their daily lives

Film-making and storytelling – using film and popular culture to tell stories and engage people in the important role the Ocean plays in supporting our world

Education and advocacy – empowering young people to become ocean advocates by providing resources to educators, running workshops and visiting schools

Partnership and campaigning – collaborating with key organisations and businesses to diversify our skills and amplify our spread our message to reach people around the world

The Ocean is our planet’s life support system and is a solution to some of the planet’s biggest problems.

It provides every second breath we take, captures 30% of human-made carbon emissions, and regulates the climate system.

Our Youth Outreach Programme is at the heart of what we do...

Our three programmes target people aged 25 and under, 42% of the world’s population, who will be most impacted by the Ocean threats of today.

Earth Cubs

Earth Cubs is an education learning platform targeting 3–11 year-olds. The app aims to engage children from a young age on the importance of our Ocean and how they can contribute to creating a cleaner, healthier planet.

Ocean Academy

Ocean Academy exists to bring the Ocean to the classroom for ages 5-16. It is an education hub designed to be a single learning destination for parents, teachers, and other educators to access the best in Ocean education.

Wavemakers

Wavemakers is an inclusive environmental education programme which empowers young adults, aged 16-25, by providing the tools to make positive change. Through our flagship workshop, and supporting masterclasses, mentorship and personal development programmes, Wavemakers accelerates social action, incubates innovation and facilitates green career opportunities.

Here's how £5,000 will help safeguarding our Ocean:

Reaching our target will allow for Ocean Generation to deliver three Ocean Academy (100 children), and three Wavemaker workshops (50 young adults).

Through these six workshops 450 young people will be engaged in, and introduced to Ocean solutions that will protect our planet.

How do participants benefit from our programmes?

  • 100% of participants said they had never attended a workshop about the Ocean before
  • 88.9% of participants said the workshop improved their knowledge about the Ocean
  • 44.4% of participants said they gained skills that might be helpful for their future job
  • 55.6% of participants felt better about the future of our planet after attending the workshop
  • 55.6% of participants said they would register for future Ocean Generation workshops

Participants have also been pledging to take a variety of positive actions for our Ocean:

I pledge to reduce single-use plastics, support sustainable businesses, educate others, and participate in ocean conservation efforts to protect our oceans.

Using less plastic if it can be avoided, e.g. reusable water bottles

Reuse materials instead of wasting them and being more conscious of refusing anything that could be harmful to our environment

Make sure the seafood I eat comes from a sustainable or local source
