For someone who is homeless, securing a job is a scary and difficult prospect. After months or even years of living a chaotic life on the streets, where would you start with organising a CV or building up confidence to attend interviews? With this in mind, Paper Cup Project, is establishing Paper Cup Coffee - a coffee shop in Liverpool which will offer employment training opportunities to those who have been homeless or vulnerable housed.
Through our accredited training, we will equip our staff with the skill to move onto working with local hospitality businesses and create a pool of talent. We will offer intensive support and a chance for our staff to get back into the workplace at a pace that suits their needs.
Coffee shops are an accessible way to interact with different people, and working in the coffee shop environment will rebuild confidence and social skills as well as breaking down preconceptions of homeless people and homelessness.
Money raised for our project will be used to fund the fit out of the coffee shop, including equipment and furniture. Donors will be part of a very exciting business, and will be directly making a difference to people who are transitioning from a street lifestyle.
