We are Bolton Conservation Volunteers. A self-funding not-for-profit organisation based in Bolton, Lancashire and was established in May 1976 by a group of Bolton residents wanting to care for and maintain Bolton’s natural habitats and wildlife. The group is run by volunteers who are passionate about working for wildlife on greenspaces in Bolton and nearby areas.
Our project 'Regenerating Doffcocker' will aim to improve and protect the natural habitats in Doffcocker Lodge Local Nature Reserve.
Our vision is to bring Doffcocker LNR back to life. Neglect and lack of sustainable management is causing the biodiversity in the local nature reserve to decline. In the areas Bolton Conservation Volunteers are currently restoring we are seeing more Terns breeding on the rafts and more diverse birdlife in the reedbed area and on the island.
However, if the neglected ponds ....
and wildflower meadow areas were regenerated this would enhance the natural biodiversity of the local nature reserve.
The purchase of a rotavator, native wildflower mixes and materials to restore the pond areas will increase the natural beauty of the area as well as providing additional habitats and increased biodiversity.
Your help will directly contribute to making our local nature reserve biodiverse and full of thriving habitats.
This project will help us to achieve our long term vision of implementing sustainable management plans and developing Doffcocker Lodge Local Nature Reserve into a diverse and resilient greenspace that will help wildlife thrive and help tackle climate change for future generations.
