New stretch target
The more money we raise, the more community we can reach, the more schools, the more families, the more areas.
To bring an inspiring ECO performance project into the most deprived areas of Lincolnshire, encouraging communities to make a difference.
by Rhubarb Theatre in Gainsborough, England, United Kingdom
The more money we raise, the more community we can reach, the more schools, the more families, the more areas.
We are RHUBARB THEATRE, a Lincolnshire based theatre company that deliver a plethora of high quality theatrical experiences, from family touring shows, street theatre, walkabout acts, interactive storytelling, workshops and lots lots more. We want to take our exciting new Eco project 'COLLECTION DAY' into schools, community venues and marketplaces in Lincolnshire.
Help us to reach the most deprived areas of Lincolnshire. Our 'Collection Day' project will include a show packed with eco themes, an inspiring talk from an eco specialist, art and growing activities and an eco pack with 40 additional arts activities to keep you inspired.
We want to crowdfund to cover fees for artists and environmental specialists, for travel around our large county, and for materials for our workshops. Over the course of a year we will reach as many schools AND community venues AND market places in Lincolnshire towns as possible with funds raised.
Why Lincolnshire - we are one of the largest counties in the UK and one of the most rural. We have some of the greatest deprivation, transport is minimal and access to cultural activity is limited. By combining important eco facts and themes into an artistic package, our communities are getting two for one. And we'll be focusing on bringing our project into the areas that need this project the most.
Why this Project - We can run our activities inside or out - they can be part of an assembly or a piece of street theatre. Our performance is mime to music and therefore anyone who doesn't have English as a first language, or needs to learn in a more creative way, will be able to access and enjoy the content.
The project will educate and inspire, arming our next generation with vital information & ideas of how to make a difference. We will highlight different issues facing our planet and then discuss how we can combat them.
The package: show, talk, activities & eco pack, introduces different ways we can help our environment & wildlife. From encouraging bees & litter picking to finding alternatives to single use plastics.
Each venue will be asked to set up an Eco Adventurers group that meet regularly and pledge to make a positive step towards protecting the environment.
Environmental activities such as 'Collection Day' are so important right now, at a time when the government publishes its 25year Environmental Plan, and we are focusing on our future - our children - to take the message home.
What we'll do - if we are able to raise the funds we will
But who are Rhubarb Theatre - set up in 2000 by Kirsty & Philip Mead, award winning Rhubarb Theatre delivers creative and original theatrical experiences which stimulate our audiences and participants imaginations. We make theatre that is accessible, thought provoking and downright fun. Our style is visual, full of mime and music, removing language barriers and as a result we reach audiences who do not speak English or who need a more creative approach, such as participants with additional needs. We are dedicated to bringing arts opportunities into areas of need. As a charity based in rural Lincolnshire, Rhubarb Theatre are perfectly placed to deliver in some of the most isolated and socially deprived areas in the UK.
If you check out our website, you'll see we've worked in many different areas with many different people, from creating a short stop-animation around parental bereavement to running fun seaside sessions with elderly adults. Check out our short film of our project in residential homes:
Rhubarb Theatre have toured to thousands of venues across the UK, taken premieres to the nationally acclaimed SPARK Children's Festival, been commissioned by The Sydney Contemporary Art Gallery, worked with the BBC and are regular performers at Glastonbury as well as many other festivals.
And who are our partners - We've been busily making connections with Plastic Free Sleaford, Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust and Mary Hollis - the founder of Green Synergy Lincoln. These partners are all experts in their field and we can't wait to start working with them.
