We're delighted to have met our original fundraising target. Thank you! Additional donations will help us offer more gardening activities for longer. This could also help us buy additional tools, plants and materials and continue to offer supported gardening activities in the Willow Garden for people with specific physical and mental health needs.
The Friends of Ruskin Park are raising for our volunteer gardening programme so we can continue to bring people together to make a practical difference in the park and learn new skills.
We have received the full £5,000 in match funding from the Save Our Wild Isles Community Fund, but Aviva Community Fund are now doubling all donations up to £250!
We organise park gardening sessions to improve flower beds and wildlife areas around the park. We also want to maintain and develop the Willow Garden - a sensory garden used for therapeutic sessions for groups with specific physical and mental health needs - and our Community Garden where we grow fruit and vegetables and keep bees.
We are a charity led by local people working to preserve, protect and improve Ruskin Park. We work to ensure our much-loved green space meets the changing needs of our community and patients from two neighbouring hospitals.
If we reach our target then we’ll be able to run the programme over the course of a year, with experienced community gardeners leading the sessions. Some funding will be used for tools, seeds/plants and materials. We will also be able to offer some free workshops and activities in the Willow Garden and the Community Garden for adults and children based around nature, gardening and growing.
