Who we are
Our Village Hall and playing fields is the hub of our three small villages; South Newton, Wishford and Stoford. As such, we have an active group trying to promote this hub and one of our tasks is to integrate the facilities from the original hall which is very decrepit. We have raised some funds but are lacking those required to enable the project to commence. We want to make the proposed newly refurbished and extended hall something the community can be proud of. We have planning permission and are eager to make this happen.
Whats been done so far
*plans and planning permission agreed.
*raising funds over a number of years with support for many regular events big and small by the community. The most recent large event was the day long music festival.
* local businesses supporting fund raising via advertising and sponsorship of some events.
*looking at options for reduce costs for the work, without reducing the quality of the finished article.
Social need
In this changing world, we are seeing increasing isolation among people. This is even more so in rural communities such as ours, where we have a mix of young and old alike. Newly arrived residents, wishing to become active within this community benefit from having a facility such as this. I guess, alot of people can look back a generation (or two perhaps) and remember how the local hall and recreation field was used to bring the community together. Whilst this still happens here, improved facilities can only help this.
Below are photos of some of the areas where we are at at this time.

After Match Tea
Apart for the youngsters football, there is a lack of much to offer to the younger generation. With better facilities, we can improve and increase what we are able to offer. It would be great to see football and cricket for all ages, walking football, and proper facilities for fitness training among many others. There are very limited hubs in this area for anyone wishing to arrange walks and rambles, with better facilities this could be improved. Helping disabled people take part in activities would also be improved with these new facilities.
We have approached Sport England for support in which ever way they help us achieve this.
So, what we are trying to say is really that we want to give so many more people a away of being included, whether they are already or not.
Our vision
So, our vision is to create a Village Hall for the 21st Century, with fantastic modern facilities for EVERYONE to enjoy. We are determined to make this happen.
Any funds raised here will be used exclusively for the changing rooms and disabled facilities.
