Help refugee youth in London learn English and rebuild their lives in the UK

What we do

Springboard Youth Academy provides newly-arrived refugees ages 13-18 a vital opportunity to make friends, acquire English language and life skills, and begin to rebuild their lives in the UK.

In a country that's brutally hostile to immigration, at a moment when schools are so desperately underfunded they can't provide adequate support to pupils with complex needs, our services are essential.

Without the right support, these young people often miss their chance to progress at a natural pace and reach their fullest potential. That's where we come in.

How we do it

Our holistic programmes run between school terms to plug the gaps in the mainstream education system.

Our holistic programmes run between and during school terms to plug the gaps in the mainstream education system. That means every half-term, summer holiday and on Saturdays.

Young people learn English through a creative and empowering ESOL curriculum. They receive academic and wellbeing support.

They learn life skills that are vital to independent living, but won’t be taught to them in school. Like budgeting, sexual health to advocating for their rights.

They go on trips that familiarise them with London, their new home, and help build friendships and confidence.

Donate to help us do more

As a small charity, we’re grateful for every bit of support. We run a tight ship with an incredible team of volunteers, founding members and Trustees who generously give their time to make our programmes possible. Their goodwill has kept our budgets low.

But as we grow, we require more resources to deliver at the scale we know is needed, to support as many young people as we can who have newly arrived in London.

The more funding we secure, the more we can invest into supporting young people and developing a second learning campus in East London to reach young people that our North London site in Brent cannot.

All money raised will support refugee young people in London. It will fund: on-site facilitators, field trips, snacks for young people, classroom and workshop materials, PPE for staff and young people, and operational costs so we can grow.

Thank you for your support.
