We are Scottish Sports Futures (SSF), a youth work and sports charity.

Created 25 years ago, we deliver within some of the most challenged communities in Scotland and support young people to reach a positive destination through our sports-based approach.

The communities we are based in each face their own unique challenges and many of the young people we support face social and economic barriers which reduce their chances to reach their full potential and thrive.  An important part of the work that we do is to improve the financial wellbeing of our young people and ensure that they are equipped with the skills, knowledge and confidence to progress into further education, training and employment opportunities which will then set them up to contribute positively within their communities.

The funds we raise will go toward the continuation of our essential SSF Twilight programme.

 This includes:

  • Venue Hire
  • Hot food and snacks
  • Training and accreditations for young people
  • Sports equipment
  • Staff costs for our highly trained team

“It’s more than sport…it’s them trying to make everyone feel like they belong.”

What is SSF Twilight?

Twilight is a weekly, free programme of multi-sport activity and youth work based directly within communities often impacted by deprivation and crime.

Twilight provides positive activity in the heart of communities and a safe space for young people aged between 7-19 to participate in activities aiming to improve physical, mental and social wellbeing whilst developing self-confidence and increasing future prospects.

 Outcomes:

  • Provides young people, living in deprivation and disadvantage, a safe place to take part in physical and educational activities to support and develop their skills.
  • Buffers the effects of adverse childhood experiences and trauma through access to positive trusted adults and role models
  • Reduces antisocial and risk-taking behaviour by providing an alternative activity for the young people within their local area.
  • Financial wellbeing is improved for young people through the attainment of qualifications, skills and knowledge which support them onto further education, training and sustained employment.  Expert advice and guidance of the topics of finance and budgeting is offered to our young people and we support them to understand the importance of this to achieve their future aspirations.

This programme has proven to divert young people away from anti-social behaviour, increase levels of physical and mental wellbeing and develop a heightened sense of belonging to the area.

With your support and funding, we will continue to make positive impacts in communities and expand our reach to support the development of many more young people.

“They’re very kind and caring people. It’s a great programme for the community, just to get them involved and stop them from doing other things on the streets that might get them in trouble with the police"
