3Strength and Learning Through Horses provides mental health and educational support to over 500 young people in London every year.
Using the natural ability of horses to read and respond to human emotions engages young people in the process of learning about their own behaviours and emotions to improve their mental wellbeing.
We have an expert staff team of Clinical Psychologists, Mental Health Specialists and Equine Behaviour Specialists who work together to help young people achieve positive change in their lives through mental health interventions and alternative education provision.
Many young people have struggled with mental health, anxieties and social isolation throughout the Covid pandemic and are in need of our help. They find traditional office based talking therapies difficult to interact with so we offer an alternative approach.
'The best thing about it is it isn't therapy. I mean, it IS therapy because it makes you better. But it isn't like 'Therapy' therapy - the stuff you have had loads of people throw at you and you know isn't working... it isn't the same sort of pressure.'
Attending our programmes gives young people the chance to work in small teams, building important life skills like communication, teamwork and relationship building. We are proud of the record we have achieved in these areas:
84% of young people said they had more confidence in their abilities
79% said their communication skills had improved
81% said that their teamwork skills had improved
100% of referring staff said they had seen a positive difference in the way young people interacted with their peers
By supporting Strength and Learning Through Horses you can help hundreds more young people get the social and emotional support that they need to life their lives to the full.
'The amazing thing about the horses is you can get a bit of support into the kids who wouldn't see a traditional therapist, or have had enough of trying with traditional therapy. You can get to them in a way that none of us can.'
