Ark of Hope Foundation: Fighting Hunger, Reducing Waste & Strengthening Community at the Former Veterans Building

At Ark of Hope Foundation for All Nations, we are tackling food insecurity, food waste, and financial hardship while creating a safe, inclusive space for individuals in crisis. Our newly established Ark of Hope Community Centre, located at the Former Veterans Building in Hanley Park, Stoke-on-Trent, is at the heart of this mission.

Once a place of service and resilience, this historic building is being revitalised into a lifeline for the local community, providing emergency food support, community outreach, and practical assistance for those facing hardship.

The Food Bank: A Lifeline for the Community

At the core of our work is a culturally competent food bank, ensuring that families in need can access food that respects their dietary, religious, and cultural requirements.

How It Works:

🏠 Collection Hub – Our centre serves as a food storage and distribution point, where volunteers carefully pack food parcels.
🚚 Home Deliveries – For those unable to reach us—elderly individuals, disabled residents, and single parents—we bring food directly to their doorsteps.
🤝 Local Partnerships – We work closely with FareShare, Neighbourly, Tesco, KFC, and other retailers to rescue surplus food, preventing it from going to waste while feeding those in need.

Why This Matters:

In just six months, we have:

✅ Delivered 40,043 meals to individuals and families in need.
✅ Rescued over 16,818 kg of food, preventing it from ending up in landfills.
✅ Prevented 41,519 kg of CO₂ emissions, actively contributing to climate action.

With the growing demand for emergency food support, we are committed to doubling our impact in the next 12 months.

Beyond Food: Building a Stronger Community

While food relief is our immediate priority, the Ark of Hope Community Centre envisions offering holistic support to help individuals move towards stability and independence. Future services will include:

🔹 Employment & skills training – Helping individuals gain work experience and financial independence.
🔹 Mental health & well-being support – Providing a safe space for those dealing with trauma and hardship.
🔹 Advocacy & legal aid – Assisting refugees, asylum seekers, and marginalised individuals navigating complex systems.

By donating, you are not just funding meals—you are investing in a long-term solution that uplifts lives and strengthens the local community.
