We are FareShare North East, and we are on a mission to tackle food waste and hunger in our community.
Help us in addressing the cost-of-living crisis in the North East, where poverty and food insecurity rates are the highest in the country. The demand for support in our local communities has surged, but we need more funding to meet it.
We are a dedicated team of over 100 volunteers and staff members working tirelessly to make a difference in our community. With passion and commitment, we come together each day to get nutritious food to those who need it most across Newcastle, Sunderland, North Tyneside, South Tyneside, Gateshead, Northumberland, Durham and Teesside.
Who We Are!
At FareShare North East, we are dedicated to supporting underserved communities across the region by distributing a diverse array of nutritious food. With a warm smile and friendly service, we deliver surplus food to those in need via a network of over 200 front line charities, ensuring that no one goes hungry in our region.
In 2023:
- We provided 2.9 million meal equivalents
- We reached over 25,000 people across the region
- We redistributed 1200 tonnes of surplus food
- We supported 221 front line charities with a guaranteed 100kg weekly food provision
But our mission goes beyond just addressing hunger.
We're not just about food distribution; we're about human connection and community support. We're dedicated to creating social benefits for our communities by promoting sustainable practices. We partner with Nourish Food School to offer free cooking courses, empowering individuals with the skills they need to thrive.
Food brings people together, reducing feelings of loneliness
Why Are We Crowdfunding?
Our love for the region runs deep, our vans travel far and wide covering one of the largest regions in England, from bustling city centres to remote rural communities, we strive to ensure that no one faces hunger alone. We are committed to continuing our mission of helping individuals in need across the North East.
We're crowdfunding urgently, to cover operational costs and expand our services - the need in our community has never been greater. With demand for our support skyrocketing, we must grow to meet this urgent need to reach 60,000 individuals and support 560 frontline charities.
