As we have grown older, we have been increasingly exposed to dementia, including the pain and suffering people go through as they struggle with this dreadful disease and its outcomes. Some facts from the Alzheimer’s Society:
- 1 in 3 people born in the UK today will be diagnosed with dementia in their lifetime.
- 1.4 million people are expected to be living with dementia by 2040.
- Dementia is the UK's biggest health and social care crisis.
This is our 3rd ride in the last 3 years and this is the hardest challenge yet… The first two stages have been somewhat memorable:
- 2023 Norwich to London 221km in 1 day
- 2024 York to London 514 km across 3 days.
We will be riding from Rochester in Kent, starting at 4am, to Weston Super Mare in Somerset, in just one day! A total of 330km.
I have never ridden this far in one day before and this will be hard, really hard. I am expecting between 12 to 16 hours in the saddle!
We know financially these are challenging times, and we have asked you for sponsorship before, but if you are able to spare a few pounds we would be very grateful. We can assure you when the saddle sore in burning and the legs are dying, any support will keep us going forward. Thank you so much for all your support for this event and the fight against this dementia.
