BHN, Our Team, and Our Vision
Bristol Hospitality Network (BHN) supports people seeking asylum in Bristol, particularly those facing destitution after their initial asylum claims are refused. Many are left in limbo—unable to work, claim public funds, or secure housing due to the complexities of trauma, language barriers, and lack of evidence. As a result, a significant number of asylum seekers end up street homeless or sofa-surfing, with no financial security or stable base to support them while they navigate the complicated appeals process.
At BHN, we are the only charity in Bristol working holistically with refused asylum seekers, offering a unique combination of accommodation, financial aid, practical support, and social inclusion. Our team provides safe housing for around 30 individuals through a network of hosts and a dedicated 11-bed house. Additionally, we run a weekly Welcome Drop-in Centre, where 100-120 individuals come every Monday to receive essential services, including meals, asylum advice, and community activities.
Our vision is simple: to build a foundation of safety, dignity, and belonging for asylum seekers, allowing them to focus on their legal cases, regain stability, and start a new life in the UK. Through the provision of shelter, a weekly solidarity fund, volunteering opportunities, and English classes, we not only address immediate needs but also foster intercultural connections and long-term resilience.
How the £5000 Will Help Us Achieve This Vision
The £5000 we are requesting will go directly towards supporting the operations of our Welcome Centre. This funding will allow us to continue alleviating destitution by providing essential services like breakfast and lunch at our drop-in. It will also contribute towards maintaining our safe and welcoming environment, where asylum seekers can regain a sense of community, feel supported, and take steps towards a more secure future.
This project aims to raise funds to resolve a claim, or other type of dispute. Neither Crowdfunder nor the Project Owner can guarantee the outcome of that dispute, or that it will be resolved at all. Due to the uncertain nature of disputes, it is not possible for the Project Owner to be sure that the amount it raises will be enough to resolve the dispute or to see it through to its conclusion. If the desired outcome of the dispute is achieved in the first instance, it may be subject to appeal and may be overturned.
