Who We Are

Wicked Weather Watch (WWW) is a charity that educates primary pupils across the UK about climate change in a positive, non-daunting and engaging way. We are driven by a singular vision: to inspire and empower the next generation to be informed, proactive stewards of our planet. Our team is made up of one employee and a passionate group of volunteer educators, climate scientists, Arctic and Antarctic explorers, and environmental advocates, all united by a deep commitment to addressing climate change through education.

WWW was founded in 2016 by Sir David Hempleman-Adams, a renowned adventurer, businessman and polar explorer. Since we began, we have taught an incredible 25,000 pupils across 280 schools — but we can't stop here! In the past year, we have taught more children than ever before, a whopping 4,300 across the academic year. There is a high demand for our work, and we want to ensure we can commit to the schools that request our services across the UK while keeping our costs as minimal as possible.

Not only are 60% of children worried about climate change, but 90% of teachers also want to have compulsory climate education in primary schools. We believe that knowledge is power, and by equipping young minds with the tools to understand and combat climate change, we can create a ripple effect of positive change that will safeguard our planet for future generations.

We understand the urgency of the climate crisis, with the Arctic warming at an alarming rate and impacting weather patterns globally. Our approach is to make this complex issue accessible and engaging for young students. By linking students with real-life Arctic explorers and scientists, and through interactive workshops and creative activities, we bring the science of climate change to life in a way that captivates and motivates younger children who have fewer resources available to them.

Our Vision

We envision a future where every child in the UK not only understands the pressing issues of climate change but also feels inspired to act. Our goal is to create a generation of informed, enthusiastic climate leaders who are ready to make a difference in their communities and beyond.

How We Will Use the Money

With the support of your funds, we will expand our transformative Climate Change Education Programme to reach more schools and inspire more students. Specifically, the money will be utilised to:

  • Expand Our Reach: We will deliver more workshops, assemblies, and educational events across the UK, particularly targeting schools in under-resourced areas to ensure that every child has access to high-quality climate education.
  • Develop Engaging Resources: We will create and distribute innovative educational materials, including interactive online content and hands-on classroom resources that make learning about climate change exciting and effective.
  • Empower Educators: We will provide support for teachers, enabling them to confidently teach about climate change and integrate it into their curricula. 97% of teachers we've worked with recommend our services to other schools and educators.

Our approach is designed to inspire and engage, making the science of climate change not just a subject to be learned but a call to action. By focusing on interactive and creative educational methods, we ensure that learning about climate change is both memorable and meaningful.

Together, with your support, we can empower a generation to lead the way in addressing the climate crisis. Join us in our mission to transform concern into action and ensure that every child has the opportunity to be a champion for their planet.

How your donation will make a difference:

£5 would pay for one child to attend a multi-school event

£10 would pay for one child to attend a class workshop on climate change

£200 would fund an explorer or scientist to give a whole-school talk

£300 would fund a workshop for one class or a year group

A donation of any size makes a real difference to our work. Please help us continue working with young people to help reduce eco-anxiety and encourage climate action.

*These are examples of what your donation could fund. Your donation will go towards the overall costs of our school education programme.

The children have learnt a lot more about the impact of greenhouse gases and we are now in a great position to explore how we can reduce our carbon footprint as a school." - Y6 Teacher

“They loved it, so many amazing facts which they have retained for the whole of this term's topic about the polar regions.” - Y4 Teacher
