What you will be doing
Our Social Connections programme is designed to respond to evidence that 36% in the UK feel more lonely since the pandemic. Through running activities that give people opportunities and spaces in the community to come together; whether that be to share a cuppa, to access technical support on their devices, or to have a seasonal party, we hope to offer younger and older people a positive boost and help form long standing relationships.
We run a range of Social Clubs which are themed around an activity with the purpose of bringing people together for a shared experience. There is a regular monthly coffee morning at the Community Furniture Store, and there is also a monthly Chop and Chat Social Club where people come together to make and share a lunch together.
Some of the activities in this programme are suitable for individuals, and some for small teams. Please contact Meg via email at [email protected] for more information and to discuss getting involved.
What we are looking for
Volunteering through the Social Connections programme is a great way to contribute to reducing loneliness and isolation in people across the city. Volunteering is a great thing to do to boost your own wellbeing too.
What difference this will make
‘It was a really nice experience. They’re all a great laugh and seeing a smile being put on everyone’s face felt satisfying, warm and compassionate. That’s my second visit and certainly not my last.’
