As Domestic Violence has risen since the COVID lockdown, and donations have reduced, we need support to help us help the vulnerable.

by New Leaf Support Charity in Sittingbourne, England, United Kingdom

We  support victims and families of Domestic Abuse . We currently provide first and second stage housing; offering a realistic alternative to a women's refuge though our very own safe house. Outside of our refuge flat provision;   We offer extensive support to raise confidence and skills to ensure that they can progress back into permanent mainstream housing quickly and securely moving towards a more positive future.

The charity is normally operating a twice- weekly 'One Stop Shop' at two locations within the Swale area, to provide a variety of support including basic legal advice, mental health support, counselling, and access to support groups and s well-being and fitness programmes, and signposting to assist victims in their journey to a life free from abuse. With our very knowledgeable board of Trustees all who are volunteers and have a wealth of experience in domestic abuse; we aim to provide a service which will also help with the increasing demand of referrals within the Swale area for victims to gain the support that is needed. During the COVID-19  lockdown period, our services are online and over the phone, except in emergency housing situations.

We have seen a sharp rise in Domestic Violence locally and nationally and our services  are needed now more than ever.

Our Short-term vision, once we are out of lockdown, is to have more of our volunteers employed on a full or part-time basis as the need for our services has grown greatly. This will also provide much needed employment on the back of this COVID-19 lockdown crisis where jobs are being lost. Any funding will go towards the core costs of these salaries now and in the future.

Our longer-term  vision is to own many properties so that we can quickly accommodate fleeing victims and families, even if only on a temporary basis, as we understand what a lengthy process it is to gain appropriate, safe and comfortable housing for victims.
