Description

Llangennech Rugby Football Club is a community based rugby union club in Carmarthenshire. There are 9 teams, ranging from under 7's to under 16's, with 140 registered players.

The team trains midweek and play weekend fixtures throughout West Wales over a 9 month season. This Juniors Rugby Club is run entirely by enthusiastic volunteers and parents and is dependent upon raising its own finances.

The team has seen new faces come and go but in essence, the main players have remained. This shows passion and commitment to sport and has become a way of life for the children.

We recently organised a very successful 'Fun Day' within the village and raised in excess of £1,300!
Events on the day included;
• A sponsored run, in which the team and coaches competed
• A duck race involving 456 plastic ducks, all of the ducks were raffled at £1.00 each
• A ‘Stock’ to torture the Coach and team with water soaked sponges
• A vast selection of handmade hampers made by parents and volunteers for raffling
• A sponsored waxing of the Coaching team
• A quiz organised by one of the coaching team with a prize of £50
• A splendid spread of food made by the Mum's of the players
• Boy's and Girl's lucky dip boxes
• The players went through the crowds with fund raising buckets

This event was a massive success and a substantial financial boost to our tour fund. It was great to see the local community support a team that is very much at the heart of our village and a way of life for the youngsters.

As a youth community organisation, we develop Teamwork, Respect, Enjoyment and Discipline among 6 to 16 year old's as well as instilling both sporting and mental skills. Llangennech RFC Juniors pride themselves on creating a feeling of togetherness and helping the children identify with their local community.

We are organising our first Team Tour for the U12's which will be a weekend training Camp at Burnham-on-Sea, Somerset, taking place over the weekend of 13th - 16th April 2018. The weekend training Camp aims to broaden the children's experiences by providing the opportunity of team building away from home in a safe environment. Children will have access to varied activities to help improve their sporting skills as well as the opportunity to bond together as a team. A game against a local West Country Juniors team will also be arranged; to help build on the skills they will have learnt over the weekend Training Camp.

If successful, the £1,000 backing would be used to fund essential costs as follows:-

1- Accommodation for the U12's players. The cost of the accommodation also allows us to access areas of the camp for weekend activities for the team building exercises and skills development.
2 - The opportunity to develop skills the children never knew they had by funding paddle boarding, surfing and water sports activities.
3 - To be enable the purchase of team kit, such as a hooded top and tour t-shirt. These would be embroidered with the club crest and gifted to each player and coach.

This funding would greatly assist particular children who may otherwise not be in a position to attend due to family budgeting/social restraints.

We sincerely hope that you will consider supporting our application.

Thank you/ Diolch yn fawr!
