Description

265th Greenhill (Sheffield) Scout Group was formed over 60 years ago and has continued to thrive and grow ever since. We now have over 80 children aged 6 to 14 attending our Beaver, Cub and Scout sections. We actively encourage inclusiveness and diversity and as such children attend from a number of schools giving them a chance to interact with others from the local community. We provide weekly activity sessions for the children and several camps and sleepovers each year, giving them the opportunity to take part in adventurous activities they may not otherwise get a chance to try, such as climbing, abseiling and kayaking. Our scout hut is also used weekly by the local community to run sessions such as martial arts.

We are fortunate to own our scout hut but it is in need of urgent repair and improvement. We have recently successfully raised enough money through our own fundraising activities, with the help of the children and parents, to enable us to replace our toilets but we still need funding to work on the kitchen and floor.

The kitchen is a vital part of the hut. We regularly run activities in which the children cook or bake and we hold fundraising events, such as jumble sales and quiz nights, which require food and drinks to be made and served for a large number of people. Unfortunately the kitchen is now old and desperately needs replacing.

We have been fortunate to have had a modern oven given to us at a low cost but we need to update the rest of the kitchen too. We need new cabinets and worktops to give us an improved kitchen in which we can provide food, and enable the children to cook, in a safe, hygienic and modern environment.

We also need help to finance work to repair areas of the wooden floor in the main room of the hut which have recently broken to ensure it is safe for us to use.

Please vote for us to enable us to improve our hut and thus continue to provide activities for our local children.

265th Sheffield (Greenhill) Scout Group

We have an excellent team running our Group with fantastic support from parents. Everyone volunteers their time to help provide exciting activities for the children. Improving the hut will enable us to further extend these opportunities for the children to grow and develop in a safe environment.
