Sport in the community

Funding level: £5,001 to £10,000

Brief Outline: To replace the current worn and damaged mat flooring with a (legal and compliant) multi-purpose covering to enable both sports and social events to be held in there for fundraising.

Request is for funds to be allocated as a contribution to the total cost of £40,000.

The floor in the sports hall is approximately 666 sq m and is no longer compliant and is therefore unfit for purpose. The hall is used for our own rugby training plus we hire to 5-a-side football groups, badminton, cricket and we wish to extend this to walking football. Having a fit for purpose sports hall helps us as an amateur club remain solvent and provides a community sports facility that caters for all age groups and genders as well as helping the club to recruit and retain players by providing an indoor training facility. Additionally, in order for us to hold social events, shows, fairs and exhibitions in there we need a suitably multi-purpose covering which we currently do not have. Therefore we have to turn away many events that could otherwise help us to raise much needed funds for the club. A multi-purpose covering will allow for both activities and allow us to fully utilise that asset which stands empty and unused for most of May, June, July and August each year.
