Community support

Funding level: £10,001 to £25,000

Collier Row Community Group was formed in 2011 by local people. Our mission is to develop a vibrant place to live, help local businesses excel, & bring about community spirit and cohesion with the local Residents. We also aim to provide annual Community Events for all to enjoy.

Following on from 6 very successful Carnival's & Family Fun Day's held in the summer's of 2012 to 2017 & 5 Christmas event's from 2012 to 2016 CRCG would like to continue providing Collier Row with a program of Annual events which allows everyone to come together & enjoy themselves with family & Friends as well as giving them a chance to meet new people.
The events also provide a chance for the businesses, groups & local talent to showcase what is on offer to local residents which helps to create a more cohesive community in Collier Row.
Funding from Avia will help us to develop, what we hope to be, our Seventh annual Carnival and Fun Day which is held on the first Sunday in August. And our 7th Annual Christmas event which is held on the first Friday in December we want to celebrate next years events with a loud bang.

Families will be invited to Collier Row on Sunday 4th August 2018 to join in the Parade that will start at Chigwell Window Centre, Chase Cross Road. A Live Music Band will lead the Carnival of local groups, clubs, societies & businesses through the high street to Lodge Lane where we will be holding a Family Fun Day for all to attend.

At the Forest Row Centre, there will be a variety of activities which will include free workshops for adults and children to take part in. These will consist of a Circus workshop, Salsa Dancing, Street dance, Theater performer's,

The local camera club will also hold a fantastic photograph exhibition. There will also be a Children's soft play area which will include an arts and crafts section Face painting, As well as the above there will also be children's rides, Craft stall's, Charity Dog Show, Bouncy Castle's. Plus much more.

This years event had over 7 thousand people attending and is steadily growing year on year

In 2018 we would like to add a more Muscial element to the event by again having a live music stage that will be home to to a variety of local singers, bands, groups & home grown talent for the day. This will give people a chance to showcase their talent.

Our 2nd event is at Christmas. For the last 6 year's we have organised an event on the first Friday in December this is a free event for the parents to attend with their little ones. We are very conscious of the fact that a lot of families in the Community can not afford for the children to take part in organised Christmas events that are charged for. Up to 1,000 children attend.

The event consists of a themed trail around the high street in order to circulate the community to see what Collier Row has on offer. There will be 5 outlets in the high street that kindly let us use their shops as stamping station's. In the stamping stations we will have character's dressed up in themed costumes. The children follow the trail around the High street and take a pre printed card with the theme on it to be stamped at the various stations they also collect different items which may be a bell to tie on their shoes or a card that they can color in this varies each year. when they have collected all 5 stamps and items they then make their way to Santa's grotto & visit Santa.

We have a real community Christmas feel to the High street. There are live Reindeer in a pen that are brought along from the Reindeer centre and Santa's sleigh for the children to see and have a photo taken. As well as a nativity scene, Rides and bouncy castles. The local Schools and churches also get involved with Carol Singing from their choirs & stalls to promote themselves. Local singer's come along and perform. The local radio station Time FM come along and compare for the evening. Each year more and more families attend.
