Tottington St. John's Cricket Club has been in existence for over 125 years and for the majority of those years have run just two senior men's teams who have competed in the local leagues around Manchester. They currently play in the Greater Manchester Cricket League and were one of the founder members in 2016. However, a couple of years ago we were approached by some girls to start a ladies team and this year we entered a team in the inaugural season of the Lancashire Women's & Girls League which we were runners up in both the 40 over and T20 formats in 2017.
We are currently unique in that there is no other women's side in the Borough of Bury and very few teams in the whole of Lancashire although over the last couple of years ladies cricket is becoming more popular. We want to develop this uniqueness during this winter to recruit more members who want to try cricket by running taster sessions at a local indoor center. To enable us to do this we will require to purchase additional equipment as well has hiring a school sports hall. This will provide new women and girls with the basic cricketing skills as well as developing our existing squad. It will also promote a healthier life style among young women.

Moment of Pride

As a cricket club we are diversifying and attracting people (females) to a sport that you wouldn't normally associate with Cricket. As a small village club we are very proud of this project and want to make it go from strength to strength.
