Skills for life

Funding level: Up to £1,000

Description

As a small group of staff we run The Duke of Edinburgh Bronze and Silver award in our school volunteering multiple weekends and evenings each year. We typically have a disadvantaged catchment that lack opportunities due to funding. We run the scheme at cost to enable pupils to take part however we spend lots of money renting equipment each year and this sadly gets passed onto the pupils, with the award of money we would be able to buy the tents and trangias needed to open the award up to more pupils by significantly reducing the cost for up to 10 years and possibly further as we would do our upmost to maintain equipment purchased.

This project means the world to me as providing young people with the opportunity to build life skill for the future. It not only is rewarding for them but to watch the pupils journey of developing the skills and the look on their faces from the achievement when they finish is priceless proud moment
