Skills for life

Funding level: Up to £1,000

Longham Scout Group provides Scouting for boys and girls aged from 6 to 14 in Longham, Parley, Ferndown and surrounding areas in Dorset, England.
Founded in 1958, it has become one of the most popular and successful Scout Groups in East Dorset.
The Group Camp, held every year during the spring half-term, provides an excellent opportunity for our members to experience life outdoors, gain survival skills and have fun away from modern technology.
The Group is comprised of one Scout Troop, two Cub Packs and two Beaver Colonies and has recently grown to an all-time high of over one hundred members.
This grant application, if successful, will enable Longham Scouts to buy further tents to accommodate all those that wish to attend camp. An additional mess tent is desperately required, along with sleeping tents.
Our Leaders work very hard as volunteers to keep the Group running and a small committee exists to support them. We have found that our resources to raise funds are limited, so this grant would be very beneficial to us. It will enable all our children continue enjoying the fun of a Group Camp.
Please vote for Longham Scouts and help us provide an opportunity for children in our community to gain life skills, make new friends and enjoy camping in a safe environment.

Moment of Pride

I’m proud of how Longham Scout Group succeeds in building confidence in children. Being able to spend a few nights on camp away from home is one of the best ways to achieve this.
