Health and wellbeing

Funding level: Up to £1,000

The Norfolk Hang Gliding and Paragliding club has been running since 1975. We run a very active tow facility for paragliders, hang gliders and paracenders in Little Fransham in Norfolk.

Being in a relatively flat part of the UK, our club is a essential facility for many pilots from the local area who would otherwise have to travel large distances for any inland flying opportunity. When an exceptional weather forecast is made we have pilots traveling from all over the country to use our facilities and get towed up in to the Norfolk skies.

An essential part of the club equipment is our two Koch winches, which are utilized to tow pilots up to heights of up to 2000ft. The winches are currently equipped with steel tow lines, which are approaching end of life and requiring an increasing amount of repairs. This takes up precious time when we could be launching eager pilots in to the air.

We are requesting a grant of £1000 to allow us to replace the aging steel tow lines with new dynema tow lines. This will allow the smooth operation of our winches for years to come, and keep us putting smiles on many a pilots face.

Moment of Pride

Being a club run completely by volunteers, the Norfolk Hang Gliding and Paragliding club is a great asset to the UK free flight community. Flights from our club this year have shown the potential of the breaking UK records, and the club is currently going from strength to strength
