Health and wellbeing

Funding level: £5,001 to £10,000

Description

This Project will create a space and support network for women who have lost a loved one, by connecting them with others who have experienced similar experience. These women have worked for 35 years, then losing their husbands/partners, and then there children leaving the nest has left them feeling lonely and empty. This project will give them purpose, a reason to get out and about.

Gardening, cooking and sharing there life stories with each other will be very therapeutic and help them cope with there feelings, emotions and loss.

Grief is unique for each person and the intensity and duration are different for each of us. Traditional models of dealing with grief and loss often tend to encourage quick “closure” and “moving on”, urging us to “let go”, often leaving us feeling isolated, alone and feeling judged as though we aren’t doing it “right”. Significant losses are never simple, or singular, rather they involve a variety of complex experiences and emotions.

We will be holding weekly sessions providing light refreshments and lunch and organizing trips to help the women cope with there loss.
