Community support

Funding level: £5,001 to £10,000

Description

The City has a great ethnic heritage and is wonderful city to live and work, however, we must continuously improve how we interact, communicate and live with each other, breaking on the barriers of distrust, segregation and racism between all cultures and local authorities through the power of sport, specifically football. We want to create a lasting legacy where annually, cultures come together play sport and build a sustainable future for the children of today and tomorrow.
We are currently underway with the Cardiff Community Cohesion Cup 2018 football tournament between 8-10 communities from across Cardiff playing against each other before the winners playing against select 11 ex professional team at the Cardiff City Stadium on 2018.
The tournament was trialled in 2014 and 2017 as joint venture with the South Wales Police with excellent coverage with BBC Wales and other local media and achieved some great social objectives because of the success of the event in 2016 and 2017, we decided to expand the competition and also the sporting and social objectives.
Outcomes:
The outcomes in 2017 exceeded all expectations and objectives which were defined at the start
