Description

Neilston Wasps is a community based football club, located in East Renfrewshire. The club was founded in 2015 and has continued to grow and develop year on year, providing positive coaching and promoting health and physical activity for around 200 boys and girls, between the ages of 4 and 14.

The coaches at Neilston Wasps 2006 are all volunteers. We attract players from a wide range of communities across East Renfrewshire who join to be part of a club focused on supporting young people develop not only their football skills but also life skills such as teamwork, communication, and achieving goals.

Our project is to kit out each of the 35 players in our two 2006 teams with a tracksuit and woolly hat. These teams have both just started to play 11-a-side football and do not have a match day tracksuit to wear over their strips when they are heading to their league games. They also no longer enjoy the winter break provided to younger teams and would benefit greatly from having a woollen hat endorsed with club badge to wear each winter on cold training nights and match days.

The costs involved when moving from 7-a-side to 11-a-side football are much increased due to pitch and referee costs, We were very lucky to have both our teams strips sponsored by a local supermarket however all monies raised at present go straight towards facilities and referee costs so there is no money left with which to buy these well deserving players a club tracksuit and hat.

Having our kids looking smartly turned out in new tracksuits and hats bearing the Neilston crest will hopefully install a sense of pride in the kids regarding their local community and also hopefully it will encourage a sense of pride from the local community in their kids football team and a positive image to encourage other kids in the community to join our club . Any support obtained through the Aviva Community Fund will be of considerable benefit in helping us meet these goals.

Moment of Pride

Our coaches are dedicated to promoting the core values of the club so we teach our players that winning matches is not the only thing that matters. Instead we encourage our players to develop life skills and character and learn the importance of teamwork, hard work and determination.
