Health and wellbeing

Funding level: Up to £1,000

Claygate Primary School is lucky enough to have a large area of land within its ownership which offers a huge opportunity to provide an area for outside learning for the children. The area features a large pond in a wooded setting with many mature trees. Although it is currently fenced off and until very recently entirely inaccessible, we were lucky enough to have an army of volunteers clear the undergrowth for us.

We have exciting plans to open the area to the children to provide cross curricular learning opportunities such as forest school activities and providing pond dipping opportunities on site. Our fundraising efforts have raised sufficient funds to construct a pontoon over the pond which will help but in order to make the most of this amazing space we are seeking funding to provide an outside classroom area and signage so that all of the children can truly benefit. The wide benefits of outside learning are well recognised and there is a strong desire by all those involved to ensure every child at Claygate Primary School can make the most of this wonderful resource.

Moment of Pride

The School, Parents Association and many other volunteers have worked extremely hard to bring this part of the school grounds back into use. The project has brought the school community together to hopefully deliver this fantastic resource and all the benefits it offers.
