Health and wellbeing

Funding level: £1,001 to £5,000

When Evesham Bowling Club which is affiliated to Bowls England was formed over a hundred years its Mission Statement was "for the benefit of the Community to enjoy the Sport of Bowls in a sociable and yet competitive environment".
Whilst that sentiment has not changed, many other aspects of the club have.
So why is this project needed?

The Club recognises that, ‘First Impressions Count’ and because of the lack of good facilities it has been difficult to showcase the club favourably.
In the last two years due to the club members' generosity and hard work the club has been able to upgrade some facilities by building new changing rooms and toilet block.
However the Club Pavilion which plays an essential role at the heart of the club is in desperate need of replacing.
It is old and too small, since it can seat no more around 20 people, so cannot meet the growing needs of today’s modern bowling community.
The timber frame building needs urgent attention.
It does not meet the current Health and safety regulations.
It has no disabled access so causing mobility restrictions.
There is no heating so limiting use to summer months only.

The club plans to replace the old timber building which is used at present as the Pavilion with a much larger traditionally constructed building, meeting the current level of building standards and offering a first class facility for all. This would give us a modern all year round Function room with kitchen and toilet facilities with disabled access and the capacity to accommodate all the summer outdoor Bowling events and also enable full use through the winter for many other social and community events.
With the planned improvements to the facilities, the club would be able to put into action many of its exciting new plans for growing and expanding its presence in the community as well as further afield. Since there would be opportunity to welcome Touring Bowls teams from around the country and County Matches could also be accommodated.

There has been rapid expansion due to the new housing developments in and around the vicinity of Evesham Bowling Club in the last few years.
To have a New Community Function room built to the highest standards and offering quality facilities available on their doorstep it would enable the community to get involved throughout the year with the many activities that would be available for example, through the hire facility for family events such as Birthday/anniversary parties and for hire from other groups within the immediate locality.
There would also be opportunity for taking part in the many activities that the Bowls club would be able to offer including being encouraged to become and stay more active and so improve their overall wellbeing through playing Bowls.

With the local community living so close to the Pavilion/Function room it would mean many of the visitors would be within walking distance of the Pavilion, and there would be easy access for those with mobility problems, but with the advantage of free parking being available when needed.

The club believes that by building a new Pavilion and offering first class modern facilities along with caring and good leadership the club would be able to implement more of its plans for attracting more people into the club and seeing an increased growth year on year equipping the club for the next 100 years in the town.
Also the club believes that a more community focus in the immediate area sharing the new facility and involving the local residents can only bring about positive results.

Moment of Pride

To have a purpose built Club Pavilion has been a' dream' of the Evesham Bowls club members for many years and to see and feel the excitement and commitment in making the 'dream' a reality is very moving and makes me as club secretary very proud to be part of the Evesham Bowls Club family.
