The Fen Edge Festival is a showcase for the Fen Edge Villages and will be held on the 21st to 23rd of June 2019.
The Festival is organised by the Fen Edge Community Association (FECA) and is delivered by a large team of volunteers – with over 150 volunteers giving up their time over the weekend to support the running over the event. FECA is a registered charity which works to improve the educational, social, recreational and leisure facilities in the Fen Edge area, covering the villages of Cottenham, Landbeach, Rampton, Waterbeach and Willingham. The population of the Fen Edge villages is in the region of 16,000 people. There are 40+ member organisations of FECA with a total of over 2500 individual members.

What is the Fen Edge Festival?
Over a weekend in June the festival provides an amazing, vibrant event which brings together the local community for a whole host of displays, activities and most of all…..FUN!!
The Festival provides opportunities for:
Live Music – local musicians and performers of all abilities have the opportunity to perform in our dedicated music area, The Venue
Displays – local groups and clubs display their achievements in a series of events and activities
Getting Involved – people can be involved with the organisation of the event, stewarding the weekend, individual displays or simply participating in activities at the Festival
Raising Money – local charitable groups can use the festival to have a stall in order to raise money for their individual causes

In 2017 over 3000 people visited the festival as the villages demonstrated their community spirit with individuals and families enjoying the wide variety of entertainment and activities on offer.

What does the Festival aim to achieve?
The weekend of the Fen Edge Festival aims to provide:
1. a professional environment to give local musicians the opportunity to perform for free at ‘The Venue’.
2. the perfect platform for groups to come and display their activities and talents for the local community, including:
-Sporting Clubs – rugby, football, gymnastics, korfball, tennis and badminton
-Creative Groups – Singing for Fun, TyrannoChorus, dance groups for all ages and Cottenham Theatre Workshop
-Special Interest Groups - Fen Edge Archaeology Group, Rampton Spinners, Adult Learning
3. the opportunity for local charitable organisations to raise funds and promote their charitable aims during the Festival weekend.

What is the impact on the Community?
We want to make a positive impact on the local community and individuals beyond the initial weekend of the Fen Edge Festival. The feedback from the event in 2017 was overwhelmingly positive and the sense of wellbeing tangible.
“Well done to anyone involved in organising this event. A real community spirit and chance to catch up with those you don’t see for a while. So much to watch and listen to that I couldn’t cover it all!!.....”
The Fen Edge Festival makes a positive different to the health and wellbeing of the local community in the following ways:
Sense of community –a great way for people to reconnect with their community and reduce social isolation.
Improved health and wellbeing – through ensuring easy access to local groups, clubs and societies there is increased participation of people in the activities within the local community.
Boost Social Interaction – an opportunity for people to develop new friendships, reconnect with old friends and to feel part of a community.

How will the money make a difference?
The money from Aviva will contribute to meeting the costs of running the festival. The Aviva Community Fund grant will be used to help retain the free elements of the Festival and ensure that the event is accessible to all. Local charities and organisations raise money through the festival and proceeds are also redistributed ensuring that the impact of the Festival is felt throughout the Community.
