Funding level: £1,001 to £5,000

Lancasterian Primary School would like money to help re develop their garden area. This would include planters and linking resources for all year vegetable growing, shelter and exercise area for chickens, resources to create a bug hotel, pond and bird feeding areas. This area would provide outdoor learning space to link in with science, D.T and the well being curriculum. Along side this, the project will benefit those children who can struggle with their behaviour, offering a calming area and activities to take pride and responsibility over.

A long term aim of this project is to give children an understanding and respect of nature; looking at habitats and our human affect on these. It is also hoped that this will build their understanding of fruits and vegetables, linking in with healthy lifestyles and diets. Within the learning, children will be able to learn about the cycle of frogs, grow vegetables which they can then cook and eat, help to care for chickens and observe and study smaller mini beasts. This hands on learning is invaluable especially when growing up in a large city, nurturing their respect and love for the environment and nature.

Moment of Pride

The children within the school are eager to develop their community and take responsibility of their learning space. It is exciting to see their understanding and love of the world and environment grow, through hands on learning.
